Three ready-to-teach 45-minute lesson plans on AI, algorithms, and digital citizenship - built for libraries, classrooms, homeschool groups, and community organisations.

Each lesson is designed to run in about 45 minutes with a group of 8-30 learners aged 9 and up. Every lesson stands alone - use one, run them in order, or space them across a semester.

The goal is discussion and critical thinking, not memorisation. There is no rubric to grade against. Every activity works with or without prior reading of The Invisible Score.

Section 01

Lesson 1 - Understanding AI Around Us

  • Extension: pair up and interview one adult about a technology that surprised them as a kid.
  • Extension: read Chapter 1 of The Invisible Score aloud and revisit the sticky-note wall.

Lesson 2 - Algorithms, Recommendations & Digital Footprints

  • Extension: invite an older student, parent, or engineer to review the group rulesets and give feedback.

Section 04

How to Adapt These Lessons

  • For libraries - drop the classroom framing and treat each lesson as a stand-alone program.
  • For homeschool - stretch each lesson across two days: half discussion, half activity.
  • For community organisations - run any single lesson as a one-off community night.
  • For younger groups (ages 7-8) - simplify the vocabulary and use the sticky-note map from Lesson 1 for every session.
